Rick + Benny sitting in a tree, never giving you up at double the speed.

Yakety Sax
song title
1. Best known as the Benny Hill theme song. Properties: Ability to make ANYTHING funny while listening to it. – Urban Dictionary1
2. If you haven’t yet had the privilege of discovering Benny Hill This, then today’s your lucky day. – The Nut

Ughhhhhhhhhhhh…guys, I’m sick.

Whatever bug had my boss sniffling and sneezing so forcefully the other day seems to have followed me home, the little plaguey bastard.

I hate being sick on a gorgeous day like this. It’s hard to enjoy a perfect clear sky and cool breeze when your sinuses are trying to explode and your throat is insisting you’ve been chugging rusty nails all night. At least ugly overcast days feel a little like they’re sympathizing.

Time for a distraction. Benny Hill ALL THE THINGS!

For those who are not familiar with the revivifying ritual of Benny Hilling, it goes something like this:

Step 1: Grab the URL of your favorite YouTube video of fast-paced dancing, running or just some good old-fashioned general mayhem you want to desecrate make into comedy gold.

Step 2: Add Benny.

Step 3: Laugh…on the inside, because your throat hurts like a motherfucker enough already.

Incidentally this is also the best possible way to react to the annoyance of being rickrolled, because Never Gonna Give You Up is actually surprisingly entertaining when sped up and Sax-ified.

Also recommended:

Psy – Gangnam Style

Michael Jackson – Thriller

OK Go – A Million Ways…actually, make that almost any video by OK Go. If you only watch one of these mashup monstrosities, make it this one. It’s a thing of beauty.

Bonus points if you’re high as fuck on NyQuil and already think everything is funnier than it is. Speaking of which, if you’ll excuse me I have some self-medicating to do.

May the Sax be with you.

  1. I should feel worse about you feeling sick, especially on a beautiful day because I get the impression those are rare, but it’s impossible to feel bad listening to “Yackety Sax”, and mashing it up with every video I can imagine just makes it even better.
As a kid I was a HUGE Benny Hill fan. I’m kind of ashamed to admit that now because when I look back a lot of the stuff that made me laugh was cheap and stupid and often sexist or even racist, and even after reading a 500-page biography about what a sad and complex–and sometimes brilliantly funny–guy he was I still feel guilty.
And then I listen to “Yakety Sax” and it’s all better. It would be a funny song no matter what but let’s give him credit for making it famous.
