Sometimes I wonder whether I pick out knitting patterns because I love the style, or because I hate my hands.

The next time I think it would be a good idea to make something with ruffles, for the love of god, TALK ME OUT OF IT.
I never caught onto knitting. This might well put me off the idea completely! 🙂

Hahaha, no! Knitting is actually a totally awesome and surprisingly rewarding activity. There are plenty of patterns out there that don’t make you lose the will to live; I just have a habit of choosing ones with annoying fiddly bits.

Damn. I wish I’d read this Friday night when I was hanging out with a group of knitters. I can’t knit myself–I’m barely able to tie my own shoes–but this is a great reminder that knitters are cool people. And that knitting is not for the weak and faint-hearted.

Most knitters are pretty much just creatively obsessive people who like playing with string and pointy objects.
So, basically, we’re cats.

I need to send this comment to my daughter (the knitter in the family). 😀

That looks so awesome though! And I’m super jealous of your mad wrap and turn skillz (I am too scared to pick up a pattern with wrap and turns).

They do take some getting used to, but once you’ve got the hang of them they’re actually kind of fun. And they open up so many cool opportunities, pattern-wise.
If I were you I’d find a good YouTube tutorial and give ’em a shot!

lol! that picture looks pretty impressive! I’m always bringing knitting projects to my mom and begging her to make them for me. On more than one occasion she’s inquired as to whether my project selection was a form of punishment.

I’ve never heard of “wrap and turn” – it’s all I can do to “knit and purl” – and it’s been so long since I’ve done that, I’m not sure I can remember. I envy your mad skilz in knitting!

Haha, I’ve been there. My mom taught me how to knit garter stitch when I was a kid, but I didn’t learn what a purl was until I was in my 20s!
